October 9, 2009 American Indian A leadership development and community building initiative based on traditional Indigenous values for Native Americans seeking to: • Positively impact their community
Personal inquiry into one’s own medicine ♦ Dialogue on current issues ♦ Meetings with leaders ♦ International Indigenous perspectives ♦ Public speaking competence ♦ Topical readings ♦ Community organizing skills ♦ Mentor Relationships ♦ Networks of contacts and resources Open to Native Americans (including Alaska Natives and Native Hawaiians, federally and non-federally recognized tribes, and urban and reservation residents) from the United States between the ages of 25-35. Ambassadors remain in their communities and come together for four group meetings in and outside the U.S. Interested emerging leaders must submit an official application, including two nominations and a proposal outlining a plan for a community-based project.
